Space Rescue is a supplier and builder of mezzanine floors (also known as raised storage areas) in warehouses within Brisbane, Logan, Toowoomba, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, and surrounding industrial areas. The price of industrial real estate in our capital cities has become quite costly for those wishing to lease or buy a larger business site. The reason for this is the limited availability of real estate and the popularity of this Australian city with its milder climate. The beauty of mezzanine flooring is that it can often provide the extra space that you need, saving you the worry and interruption that a business relocation brings.

1. Benefits of Mezzanines

a) Allows you to make use of your unused high space

The price for additional ground floor space in Brisbane is expensive in comparison to making use of free high space that you already own. Mezzanine floors make your currently unusable space usable. They are like a key that provides access to and unlocks the space that was previously inaccessible. Placing an elevated platform above your ground floor work areas is liberating as it opens up a whole range of possibilities. You can add extra shelving for stock or workcells for personnel with the addition of a mezzanine floor.

b) Tailor-made

Warehouses come in all shapes and sizes, each with their own unique features. This is why we customise each mezzanine we provide to your specific needs. Flexibility in design, along with our made-to-measure fabrication, greatly assists our experienced team in achieving this for you. This enables us to provide purpose-built structural steel floors that are well integrated with your building and make the most of the area they are to accommodate.

c) Cost-effective solution

Mezzanine levels are considered to be a very cost-effective solution for space problems. This becomes apparent when you way up the investment against the time, interruption and expense involved that a relocation brings. We can either deliver a mezzanine floor kit to you or organise a complete supply and installation.

d) Expand your business quickly

The inherent modular features of structural mezzanine floors brings with it several benefits for our customers. One of which is the speed with which we can erect these floors. A careful and meticulous site measure allows us to plan your floor in detail. This in turn permits the pre-fabrication of parts off site that can be simply bolted together in your warehouse. This helps to minimise any down time for your business and enables you to make use of the extra space in a short amount of time. Another benefit of this style of mezzanine is that it makes it easy to add on to and expand your floor in the future.

5. FAQ

What materials are used in mezzanine floor construction?

The majority of mezzanine floors will use a combination of painted structural steel sections. These include I-beams as the main load bearers, cold-rolled zinc-plated metal purlins as joists, plain tongue and groove boards as the floor covering, galvanised ball and tube stanchions and rails as balustrades, and painted square hollow sections as the support posts.

How much weight can a mezzanine floor hold?

It depends on the designed load rating. The great thing about the metal components used in mezzanine floors is that they can be sized according to their intended usage. For instance, a mezzanine used for additional offices will likely be able to hold up to 300 kg per square metre (or approximately 3 kPa). On the other hand, a mezzanine that is to be used for storage will typically be designed to safely carry at least 500 kg per square metre (or approximately 5 kPa). Floors with even higher weight ratings, such as 1000 kg per square metre and more, can easily be sized and manufactured.
